ANZAC Day
Today we had an ANZAC day memorial service. A kaumatua gave a speech in Maori and then he sang a waiata. Simon Wasley from the NZ Navy told us about why we remember New Zealand and Australian soldiers who were lost in wars. We all said, "We will remember them." Our school leaders called out the names of some soldiers who died and a soldier lowered the flag to half- mast. Mr Vemoa, a Salvation Army cadet, played the Last Post on his bugle and we laid some wreaths in honor of the soldiers who have died. We finished the service by singing our National Anthem and the boys did a Haka.

Easter egg hunting
On Thursday we made our own little Easter baskets and then we hunted for pictures of Easter eggs with our Room 5 buddies. Each egg had a letter and number to a secret code. When we had collected all of the numbers and letters we had to crack the secret code to read the Easter message from Mrs Walker and Mrs Hamilton.
End of Term 1 fun
We were quite busy preparing for our 3 way conference meetings last week. Luckily Room 16/21 has lots of keen helpers!
