Dinosaur!

What a screamy treat we had today when a T-Rex came to school!  Some of us found it hard to remember that it was not a real dinosaur.

Around Room 21 in Week 6

Lucas has been enjoying playing the drums in his music group with Mrs Wasley.

Happy birthday Haimoana, we loved sharing your birthday cake.

Some of us enjoyed practising a play at reading time.

Tennis Lessons

On Tuesday we had our first of four tennis lessons.  We practised bouncing and catching the ball, then we tried to control the ball on our racket.  We had to run the ball around the racket like a car on a racing track.  Then we had to drop the ball off our racket and catch it again with the racket.  We pretended that we had caught a fish and it was jumping out of our net.  Finally we hit the ball to each other with little hits to control the ball.  We had a great time at tennis.

Triathlon

On Friday we had our Koru syndicate triathlon.  We are proud of the persistence and resilience that our students showed.

The Tooth Fairy

In the weekend my tooth fell out and the tooth fairy came and took it.  I got a two dollar coin.  Some people don't believe in fairies but I do.  I want to see a fairy and I will help it and I will give it some food and water.  I love fairies.      - Teagen

Groups we belong to.

As part of our Topic of finding out about the groups we belong to, yesterday we started our interest clubs and in Room 21 we had cooking club.  We made our own pizza dough and then we put pizza sauce, ham, vegetables and cheese on top.  We took it home and cooked it for our afternoon tea.  The Year 1s and 2s in the cooking club did a great job and they were very positive after eating their pizza.  They are looking forward to the next 2 weeks of cooking.

Science Club

At science I learned about magnets.  I sat on the mat and Mrs McGimpsey taught me all about magnets.  First I chose the bottle.  It had iron sand in the bottle.  I got a magnet and the magnet dragged the sand up.  Next I made my own magnet.  I made a statue with pins.  I got a worksheet with sad and happy faces on it.  If we had a pin stuck on to the scissors then we coloured in the happy face.  - Amelia
