Book Character Day

On Friday we dressed as some of our favourite book characters. Luckily the rain stopped just in time for our parade.

Siapo making

On Friday we were busy making siapo. We used pva glue to raise the surface of our designs. Then we rolled printing ink on and lay our tapa cloth over the top. Next we rolled very the cloth with a dry roller and the pattern transferred on to the cloth.

Tapa

Today Riley brought in some Tapa cloth for us to look at. We recognised the square pattern that signifies the central beam that holds up the house of the Tongan king. We also thought that maybe one of the other symbols might be the sun or a star and another symbol reminded us of the breadfruit tree.

Paris' Weekend

In the weekend I went to Levin.  We were going to my Non's birthday.  We had a wedding too.  We had 2 cakes.  Some people from a band came and sang a song.
We played on the tramp and my brother did a back flip.  I did a forward flip and a cartwheel with no hands.
Then we had the cake.  After that we had dinner and next we had the wedding.  I got to be the flower girl.  When they put on the rings they were married.  After the wedding we came back to Wellington.

Wild Things

We have been reading 'Where the Wild Things are' and we are making an animation of the story.  Last week we drew and wrote about what our characters looked like and what they ate.  We also painted some backdrops for our animation.  This week we were busy taking lots of photos of our wild things as they moved around in the forest where they lived.  Now the photos will be edited and Amelia will narrate the story.  We will soon be ready to show the story of our Wild Things.

¡Ay, caramba!

Come to the Fun Food Fiesta at 5pm on Friday and you can vote for Room 14's Santa piñata.  We will celebrate his short life in the last week of school and Room 14 children can bring little treasures to fill him with at that time.

On Rainy Days

When it is too wet to go outside we can stretch and have fun with GoNoodle. We play short video clips that encourage us to move and keep fit.

Skip counting

We have been busy in maths skip counting to find answers to 2, 5 and 10 times tables. To find out the answer to
5 x 4 =, we count 5, 10, 15, 20 on our fingers.
