Golders Cottage

At last the weather and volunteers agreed on a lovely day for us to visit Golder's Cottage.  We saw lots of interesting things that they used in houses 100 years ago.  Most of us agreed that the kitchen with its wood fired stove was very interesting and we particularly liked using the pump in the back yard to pump our own water.  MW doesn't think we would like it so much if we had to pump it on a cold morning so we could wash ourselves with it!  Other things we enjoyed seeing were the old-fashioned copper washing machine, the little bedrooms upstairs with the old bed-warmers and candles for light, and the amazing big dolls house downstairs.  We found the original outhouse toilet at the far end of the garden quite fascinating.
