Busy Bees

We have been learning about how bees collect pollen and nectar from flowers.  The pollen is fed to the queen and babies in the hive and the nectar is made in to honey.  The bees eat the honey in the winter when there are not many flowers with pollen.  While the bees are going from flower to flower, they are pollinating each flower with the pollen that is on them.  WE made our own flowers and used rashuns and twisties as the flower anthers.  Then we made our own bees and gave them black pipe cleaner feet.  As our bees travelled from flower to flower, they collected 'pollen' from the flower anthers and spread it to other flowers.  This is pollination.
